Stopped for quick lunch at a Taco Bell. Got a Gatorade at the gas station- really need to replace electrolytes! Working up a sweat!!! Nice breeze in Huntington Park!
1:47 pm Reached Long Beach Blvd which takes me all the way down into Long Beach. Still many hours to go but Iβm feeling good and will get there this evening- delightful breeze here!
Companionship on the Trek!
2:23pm “I was just joined by Pam Simmons, a colleague from work, who is joining me for the walk through Lynwood. Thanks Pam! You are a star!”
“As recommended by my friends at Long Distance Walkers Association, I have elevated my legs for a bit, put on a pair of fresh socks and a change of shoes!”
Drank some Pedialyte to get some extra electrolytes to counter the loss through sweating. Feeling refreshed and ready to get “on the road again”!
8:33 am At the 6 mile mark- Echo Lake. Feeling good! Just quick wee, refuel and I will be off again! The RV was a brilliant idea!!!!
“I think I said “Silver Lake” — I meant of course, “Echo Lake”!
Power snacks to refuel
Feet are feeling good — just want to keep it that way!
“Just a reminder, dear friends and followers, the walk is underway but the fundraising has not stopped- PLEASE- continue to donate! Again – even a $10 coffee- equivalent! Letβs ALL keep going!” – Dr. Monica
Dr. Monica would like nothing more than to help ALL the animals world-wide! So she has officially registered docwalks4animals as a 501c3 non-profit public charity whose mission is to support wildlife and environmental conservation projects.
“If you routinely give something to charity each year, I hope you will consider adding docwalks4animals.org to your list of supported charities. We are brand new, but I put together what I consider a very talented and dynamic board of directors, who bring diverse talents to our organization and, with your help, I am confident we can do great things for our planet.” –Dr. Monica Metzdorf
Yesterday’s outpouring of generosity has just been overwhelming! We have collected over $7,000.00 in just 5 short days!
One contributor has donated $2,000.00 in the name of docwalks4animals.com For this, we would like to present Brian S. with his own animal award – a golden lion!
By the end of the day on May 6th, we have reached the incredible sum of $4,470!! This amount came from just 34 donors. I want to express my most heartfelt thanks to those extremely generous friends and family members for believing in me and helping to get this fundraising project off to a roaring start!
This is not a sprint, however- itβs not exactly a marathon run either β itβs more like five urban walking marathons!! I would, therefore, still like to encourage more people to donate even very small amounts -every $10 can add up to feeding a lot of animals and fish!!
Weβre more than halfway to my original goal of $7β500. If more people donate just one dayβs coffee money and we can help so much more! Click the link below to donate a coffee!
Every cent counts! Please consider donating the price of a cup of coffee!
We would be so grateful if you could donate even just the cost of a cup of coffee!
My twin sister, Andrea β film fanatic β quoted Roy Scheider in βJawsβ saying βWeβre gonna to need a bigger giraffe!β Thatβs not a problemβ¦ we can make more hungry animal goal trackers!
Iβve been working out with Ara as my coach for about a year now. He is amazing! A year ago, I never would have considered taking on something like this, but a year ago, I couldnβt deadlift a 100 lb kettlebell either! Thanks, Ara! Check out his site- thestrongdna.com
